Blocking unavailable dates

Tell Mintoor when you can't play so the Router doesn't route around bodies, and agents stop asking.

When you'd use this

Your sister's wedding is June 14. You have studio sessions every Wednesday this summer. You're in Europe for three weeks in October. You want all of that blocked on your Mintoor calendar without typing each date one at a time.

Three kinds of blocks

One-off block. A single date or date range you can't work.

  • Tap the date on the calendar → Block this day.
  • Or select a range (drag, or click one date and shift-click another) → Block range.

Recurring block. A pattern that repeats.

  • Settings → Calendar → Recurring blocks → Add pattern.
  • Examples: "Every Wednesday 6–10pm," "First Monday of each month," "Every day between 8am and 5pm" (for day job).
  • Recurring blocks are rendered on the calendar in light grey.

Imported block. Events from a synced Google or Apple calendar are automatically treated as blocks.

What blocking does

  • The Router — won't route around blocked dates when planning a tour.
  • Weekend Finder — won't surface matches on blocked dates.
  • Inquiries and holds — blocked dates trigger a warning if a venue tries to hold them.
  • Shared calendar links — blocked dates appear as "Unavailable" (not the event name — your personal context stays private).

Block labels

Optional. You can label a block (e.g., "wedding," "studio day") for your own memory. Labels are never shown on shared calendars — only generic "Unavailable" is visible publicly.

Unblocking

Tap the block on the calendar → Unblock. Or Settings → Calendar → Blocks list → delete.

Recurring blocks: you can either delete the whole pattern or skip a single occurrence.

Soft vs hard blocks

  • Hard block (default) — cannot be over-booked. Router refuses to route a show on the date; Weekend Finder skips the date.
  • Soft block — warns on over-booking but allows override. Useful for dates you could play if the offer is right but would prefer not to.

Change a block's type in the block's detail popover.

Still stuck?

  • Block won't save? Check you're not trying to block a date with an already-confirmed show on it. Delete the show first or mark it as a hold instead.
  • Imported events showing as blocks you don't want? Change the Google/Apple sync direction to "Mintoor → external only" (not two-way).
