How Mintoor messaging works
Mintoor messaging is the in-app channel for talking to your bandmates, crew, booking agents, vendors, and venues — not an email client.
When you'd use this
You're trying to figure out what messaging in Mintoor actually is, how it's different from email, and who sees what you send.
The core concept
Mintoor messages are scoped to the people you work with in Mintoor. When you compose a message, Mintoor shows you a sectioned contact picker:
- Venues — bookers and contacts from venues you've interacted with
- Team — bandmates, tour manager, crew on your own band
- Booking agents — your agent's contact if linked
- Vendors — merch vendors, backline providers, lodging contacts you've saved
You pick one or more recipients from the picker. That's the thread.
It's not email. You can't message anyone with an email address — only people already in your Mintoor contact tree. This is intentional: it keeps day-of noise out of your inbox and keeps sensitive tour info in one place.
Thread structure
Each thread is:
- 1-to-1 (you to one venue booker) or
- Group (you + your tour manager + your agent)
Threads have a subject and a timeline of messages.
Attachments and @mentions inside threads aren't built yet — for now, threads are plain-text only.
Who can see what
- Default: only people explicitly added to a thread see it.
- Band members and crew can be opted in to a thread by the owner — they see it when added, not automatically.
- A message sent in one thread is NOT visible in another thread, even if the same people are in both.
Notifications
- Every message triggers a push (if you have the app installed) and/or email based on your notification preferences.
- Day-sheet messages (sent from a day sheet surface) are bundled separately — they appear in your notification bell, not as individual pushes per message.
- See Message notifications and digests to tune this.
Messaging vs. inquiries
Inquiries are the outbound booking channel — you pitch a venue who doesn't know you yet. Inquiries go out via email (from your Mintoor domain) because the venue isn't in your contact tree yet. See What is a venue inquiry?.
Messages are for people you already work with. Different concept.
Still stuck?
- Can't find someone in the picker? They need to be added to your contacts first (tour detail → Team, or venue page → Contacts).
- Venue booker replies not arriving? That's an inquiry, not a message — check your Inquiries inbox.
