What is a venue claim?
A venue claim is how a venue's actual booker proves they're the real contact — and takes control of their Mintoor listing.
When you'd use this
You're an artist and you want to understand why some venues say "Claimed ✓" on their Mintoor page and others don't. Or you're a venue booker who landed on your venue's Mintoor page and wants to fix outdated info.
The concept
Mintoor's venue directory covers nearly 30,000 rooms across the country. Most listings started as our best research; claiming turns a "best guess" into "source of truth."
When a venue booker claims their listing, they:
- Prove they're the real booker (via email domain match, social proof, or manual review).
- Take over the listing — control capacity, booker email, genre tags, claim status, blackout dates.
- Receive artist inquiries directly in their Mintoor venue inbox.
Claim = the venue goes from "best guess" to "source of truth."
For artists: what claimed vs. unclaimed means
Claimed venue:
- Contact info is verified and current.
- Inquiries go to a human who's active on Mintoor.
- Reply rate is much higher (usually 60%+, vs. 15% for unclaimed).
- Capacity and genre tags are accurate.
Unclaimed venue:
- Contact info is our best research and may be stale.
- Inquiries go to an email that may or may not be monitored.
- Reply rate is low (many bookers don't check a shared email reliably).
Recommendation: prioritize claimed venues for your first-round pitches. Fall back to unclaimed venues only for harder-to-reach markets.
For venue bookers: why claim
- Get direct inquiries from working artists who know what they're doing (not mass blasts).
- Self-manage your listing — update capacity, email, hours, blackout dates.
- Access venue analytics — how many artists viewed your page, how many inquiries you received, response rate.
- Free. No fees, no contracts, no commission on bookings.
How to claim
See How to claim your venue for the full flow. Summary: find your venue on help.mintoor.com or mintoor.com, click Claim this venue, prove ownership via email-domain match or manual review, and you're in within 24 hours.
What proof we accept
See What proof of ownership is accepted. Most common:
- Email domain match (reply from
booker@venuedomain.com) - LinkedIn profile listing you as booker at the venue
- Verification phone call (for edge cases)
Still stuck?
- I see a venue I've played at for years but it's not claimed. That's normal. Many venues don't know about Mintoor yet. Tell the booker to claim it — everyone wins.
- Someone fraudulently claimed my venue. Rare, but happens. Email hello@mintoor.com with the venue name and proof you're the real booker.
